Consider strategic alliance to boost business Score: More about Printer Friendly Send to a Friend Save as PDF Read More...

Alpine Air, Inc.

>Alpine Air

Saundra JonesSaundra Jones, president of Alpine Air Inc., has been able to grow her heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration business in part thanks to a strategic alliance she established with her competition.

The partnership began in 2004 when she and the owner of Climate Engineers, Inc. discussed a merger.

“I decided the merger wasn’t in the best interest of my company,” said Jones, whose husband is the lead technician for Alpine Air. “So I suggested we work with each other. We would become his service staff and in return he would become our installers and duct people. He needed someone to start the systems [his company installed]. And we were growing so quickly, I couldn’t staff fast enough.”

Working in tandem and sharing staff worked out well for both companies.

“It allowed me to take jobs I couldn’t take otherwise because I didn’t have the staff and it allowed his company to keep running because he had the technical staff,” Jones said.

Businesses wanting to grow can explore strategic alliances with other related companies that allow them to offer more products or services to clients. It can also be as simple as sharing advertising costs when two related businesses are marketing to the same customer base.

HVAC Women Provide Successful Blueprint

HVAC Women Provide Successful Blueprint

by Angela D. Harris

Growing Acceptance Opens Doors to New Jobs

HVAC Women Provide Successful BlueprintIt’s agreed. Women should work in the HVACR industry. That was an easy question. So simple in fact, many of the contractors The NEWS posed that question to were seemingly surprised we even asked. It was the qualifying question as to where women fit in the HVACR industry that produced some differing opinions. Some felt that a woman could easily do any job in the HVACR industry that is available. Her only limitations would be her own training and capabilities. Others didn’t come right out and say it, but some of their responses limited women more to office functions, dispatch, and sales — the communications side of the business.

Overall though, the respondents seemed more than tolerant of the idea of having a competent woman, no matter which role she chose, as a part of the industry.

“This is not a gender specific industry,” pointed out Walter Mott, owner of Dean’s Shop in San Marcos, Texas. “A qualified person, regardless of sex, can fill any position.”

Being part of the HVACR industry, however, takes hard work and planning. It is a process; and with guidance, a woman can make a successful career, but her first step is to choose the HVACR industry.

Energy Star Rebate Program

Goveno Charlie CristIncreasing the energy efficiency of your home’s heating and cooling system is one of the most productive steps you can take as a homeowner to cut your energy costs. Upgrading your system and reducing leaks in your ducts will not only help you save energy, but it will also boost Florida’s economy and help secure Florida’s environment for future generations. Thank you for doing all you can to make a difference for the future of Florida.Charlie Crist

The Florida ENERGY STAR® Residential HVAC Rebate Program is designed to encourage existing homeowners to replace their old energy-inefficient heating and cooling system with a properly-sized energy efficient system and to ensure that their heating and cooling duct system has minimal leakage.

Program Start Date: August 30, 2010 – No purchase invoices or installations with dates prior to August 30, 2010, will be accepted.

Program End Date: December 31, 2010, or when the funds are depleted. Purchase of any needed repairs to duct work and installation must be completed by this date.

Qualifying Appliances: The following Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning and Cooling (HVAC) standards have been set by the federal government to meet the Federal Energy Tax Credits standards. Systems that meet the Federal Energy Tax Credits standards will also meet Florida’s ENERGY STAR® Residential HVAC Rebate Program standards.

If you have any concerns whether or not your HVAC system meets these qualifications, we strongly recommend consumers ask their installer for a copy of the AHRI Certificate of Product Ratings or the Manufacturer Certification Statement and attach it to your rebate application.

Trane CleanEffects Clean Air System

The world's most effective whole-house air filtration system

The standard air cleaners on the market have filters that are very dense. Meaning they try to stop the dust by trapping it in a slightly porous filter. The fewer the pores the more dust it can trap. However, this not only stops the dust and dirt, but it also stops the air from moving as well. In other words, the amount of air that goes through your system is reduced so you may not be as comfortable. Less air is cleaned efficiently. This is called pressure drop. The revolutionary Trane CleanEffects air filtration system has the lowest pressure drop with the highest efficiency possible. Our unique patented technology is designed to let air flow freely through the most advanced filtration system available. The result, more of your air is cleaned faster and more effectively than anything else on the market.
